Easter Egg Hunting

This morning on our way into the school we were blown away with the wonderful bright bunting and beautiful decorations which greeted us at the school gates. We knew there was something different about today, the Easter bunny had visited! Our classes each took turns at visiting the yard to see if they could find any eggs. To our delight there was an egg for everyone.

The children are so grateful for their eggs and they had such fun on the egg hunt today. What a way to begin the Easter Holidays!

Puppet Show

Today our Junior classes were treated to a puppet show performance which took place in the Junior Infant classroom. The children were introduced to Grandad, baby, red crayon, the wicked Witch of the West and Santa even paid a visit. It was a laugh a minute and the children got really involved in the performance. Once again we would like to say a huge thank you to our Super PTA who funded this visit. We had a really great day.

Ella Enchanted the Musical

Last week all of the pupils in 3rd - 6th classes attended Ella Enchanted the Musical in the Dominican in Wicklow Town. We were so delighted to be getting a bus for our big day out. The children brought some snacks with them which they could enjoy during the show.

We were overjoyed when we found out that we had the best seats in the house, sitting right up the front. The show lasted for 80 minutes in total, with a short break in the middle. The acting was excellent, we could not believe the amount of preparation which must have gone into putting the show together. Fantastic singing, stunning costumes and a wonderful story where Ella struggled with the gift of obedience which had been given to her by her fairy godmother. We were delighted that there was a happy ending to the story, with Ella falling in love with the prince and no longer having to be obedient. We learned that although obedience can be something very good at times, there are also times where obedience can be a dangerous and bad thing.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful PTA who kindly funded this trip for the children.

Biodiversity day in Nuns Cross

Today we were visited by the lovely Mairead today who took us on a trail of the school grounds in search of minibeasts. We had great fun searching for minibeasts and we couldn’t believe our eyes with the variety of insects we discovered. Have a look below.

Easter Egg Hunt

Today al the children in Nun’s Cross enjoyed a fantastic Easter egg hunt, which was organised by our PTA. A huge thank you to all the members of our wonderful PTA for organising such a great treat on the last day of term!

New Climbing Wall

We are absolutely delighted with a new feature in our schoolyard - a climbing wall. This wall was funded by fundraising events organised by our Parents Association. All thanks go to them, and all the parents who have contributed to fundraising over the last year! This fantastic feature in our playground will be enjoyed by children of all ages for many many years to come!

New Raised Bed

We are delighted the first addition to the front part of our garden as part of our over plan to make it a sensory garden for our school.

At Nun’s Cross. we are fully inclusive and it is important for us to ensure that all our children are able to fully enjoy all aspects of school. For some children, running around, playing ball games and being loud with their friends is not their idea of enjoyable playtime. This space will serve as a quieter space for children to spend their outdoor time in a calm space, away from the fast running and loud noises of traditional playtime.

This colourful raised bed has been filled with beautiful flowers which will continue to bloom over the coming month as we add more to this area of our playground. It will help us to keep this area of the playground at a slower and quieter pace than the rest of the outdoor space. We would like to thank all of the parents who contributed to the fundraising efforts last year in order to enhance our outdoor area and we are excited for the rest of the additions to come! Bi thank you, also, to our amazing PTA, without whose efforts none of this would be possible!
