Happy New Year to you all! We hope you had an enjoyable Christmas. Please have a read of January’s Newsletter below.
Wizard of Oz
The children all had a wonderful time in December at The Dominican College’s production of The Wizard of Oz. Here’s what Sarah Armstrong in Senior Infants had to say about it:
“I loved all the singing and all the kindness”.
Upcoming Events – Dates for Your Diary!
We are having an unwanted clothes collection. Clothes in good condition can be left in bags under the stairs in the new building from now until the morning of 16th January. All proceeds will go to Mellon Educate.
Church Service, Friday 18th January
There will be a school church service on Friday 18th of January. All welcome.
Nun’s Cross School Short Stories
We are delighted to announce an exciting new venture for 2019 – the publication of a book of short stories written by the children of Nun’s Cross National School.
Some of the stories will be produced in class. We would also like to invite any children who might have a story they would like to enter separately, to please do so. This could be something they have written previously in school or a story they have come up with themselves at home. There is no minimum or maximum length required and the aim is to capture the wonderful, fun loving imagination of children rather than a polished piece of literature. We hope the finished product can be something that children and parents will treasure long into the future.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, 8th February 2019 so there’s plenty of time to unleash those creative juices. The preferred means of submission is by a Word document but hand written copies can also be submitted.
To enter a Word document simply attach it to an email and forward to firstname.lastname@example.org
To enter a hard copy please submit (in an envelope) to the school office with ‘Book Submission’ and the child’s name and class clearly marked so we can return it to you.
Thank you to Bridge Street Books
The PTA would like to thank Bridge Street Books for supplying the books which Santa handed out to the children on the last day of term in December. Bridge Street Books worked with a very small budget to supply all the gifts and the school is very grateful for this. Please keep this local award winning bookshop in mind when you need to buy a new book or voucher over the coming months.
